Description:

An investigation is under way in the North after a fire broke out at The Quinn Glass Plant at Derrylin in Co Fermanagh last night. Ten units of The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service tackled the fire which broke out at about 9pm. It took 126 firefighters 11 hours to tackle the blaze. Four people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. It is understood the blaze started at a furnace in the factory which contained molten glass of around 1,600 degrees centigrade. The plant makes glass containers for the food and drinks industry. Ian Doyle, the Assistant Commander for the Fire and Rescue Service, said the fire started in a furnace in the factory.
