Description:

Landslides devastated several houses in northeastern Turkey on Saturday, killing at least three people. According to local governor Recep Kızılcık, two victims were crushed to death when a large rock smashed their two story house in the Black Sea port city of Trabzon. The person living on the ground floor immediately fled into the street upon hearing a loud noise and thereby escaped the devastating collapse. Relatives of the couple burried in the house, who live on the same street, suffered nervous breakdown when rescue teams uncovered the bodies. A third person was killed when a landslide unleashed by heavy rains destroyed a house in a village in the neighboring province of Giresun. Rescuers were looking for another person in the debris. Also on Saturday, a rescue operation was launched for 18 people stranded in a bus on a mountain road in the Rize province amid blizzards and avalanches, officials said.
